Stirling MP Stephen Kerr was questioned by local business owners in a recent “Meet your MP” session organised by STEP.
STEP, Stirling’s Business Support Company, are an organisation which provides support for local businesses, providing a one stop solution to business support. There were over 20 businesses booked to attend the event.
During the session, the MP fielded questions about current affairs, business rates, the corporate environment, and also informed businesses how they could work better with the resources the UK and Scottish Governments provide.
Stephen was invited by Gordon Bell, Chief Executive at STEP to come along and meet local business owners.
Stephen Kerr MP said:
My thanks to Gordon and STEP for organising this very beneficial session. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the more we can do locally to support them, the better. There were some excellent questions and I found it really useful to hear directly the challenges people that have built their own businesses’ face.
Gordon Bell said :-
We speak to businesses every day who feel SME’s are often an afterthought at a government level, so arranging this ‘Meet Your MP’ event has allowed an honest, transparent discussion. I would like to thank Stephen and his team from taking the time out their schedules and we hope to arrange more events like this soon.
