Stirling’s MP Stephen Kerr has handed over an Early Day Motion to the Brig Newspaper, the University of Stirling’s official paper, to celebrate 50 years in print.
Brig Editor-in-Chief Harry McArthur and Deputy Editor Stuart Graham collected a copy of the EDM from the MP at the University last Friday.
The EDM also congratulates ‘Brig’ for winning the Student Publication Association’s best publication in Scotland, best journalist, best political journalism, and best website awards in 2017.
Stephen Kerr MP said:
“Brig has been a stalwart of Stirling University for 50 years now, a real achievement for the paper. As we have seen with its recent awards, the paper is going strong and it was great to meet Harry and Stuart to hear their plans for the paper. I still recall reading the paper when I was studying at Stirling and it still has a key role in the life of the University and long may it continue to do so.
Brig Editor, Harry McArthur, said :-
"It has been a wonderful year for Brig Newspaper and we were both delighted and honoured to receive the EDM. It is a testament to the great work that the paper has carried out for the past 50 years and I hope it will encourage others to carry on the legacy of this paper for the next 50 years."
